Punjab Government has approved the plan to construct a state-of-art plaza at entrance of the famous Golden Temple in Amritsar.
At a meeting on Saturday, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal asked Secretary Tourism and Cultural Affairs Geetika Kalha to closely monitor the Golden Temple Entrance Plaza project right from its stage of conception to completion, an official said.
Kalha informed the Chief Minister that a redesign and refurbishment of the public space available in front of main entrance of Golden Temple Complex has been proposed, he said.
The new entrance would take care of various aspects, including accessibility for pedestrians, visibility to enhance the glory of the facade, eco sustainability etc. The completion schedule and the total cost to be incurred are yet to be worked.
