Andhra Pradesh Government to Help Farmers Suffering Crop Loss: Minister

Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao today said the state government will support farmers who have lost their crops in the recent heavy rains.

"A total of 2,60,000 hectors paddy crops were lost in the state during the recent rains. Nearly 6,000 hectors of fish and prawn cultures were damaged due to rains. The state government will give full support to farmers who have lost the crops," he told reporters.

The minster took part in the Telugu Desam Party's 'Jan Chaitanya Yatra' in Gudivada Town of Krishna district. "The AP government will distribute seeds on subsidy price to all farmers. A Central team will arrive tomorrow to assess the crop loss," Mr Rao, also the in-charge Minister for Krishna district, added.

He demanded that the Centre should support farmers and sanction large amount for Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Rao further said that he along with state Home Minister Chinarajappa will visit Delhi on December 10 and ask help for the state.
