Hyderabad:
Andhra Pradesh government today constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM) to examine the grievances of junior doctors who have been agitating for hike in stipend.
The members of the GoM are Health Minister D L Ravindra Reddy, Finance Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy, Major Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy and Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath, a Government Order said.
The GoM would discuss the demands of the junior doctors -- internees and Post Graduate students -- with their representatives and make suitable recommendations to the government and also suggest measures for improvement of hospital services, the Order said.
Meanwhile, the fast by five junior doctors entered the eighth day today. They are under critical care monitoring, according to Phani, a representative of the junior doctors.
A fresh batch of 12 doctors, including two women, began an indefinite fast today, he said.
The representatives of the doctors, accompanied by leaders of various parties, would meet Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy tomorrow and the future course of action would be decided after that, Phani said.
TDP, CPI, CPI(M), BJP, Lok Satta and other parties have supported the doctors.
Health Minister D L Ravindra Reddy said in Delhi today that the doctors should not try to blackmail the government by threatening to boycott essential services in hospitals.
