A delegation led by British Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Jeremy Browne, today met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and expressed interest in establishing Deputy High Commissioner's office in Hyderabad.
Browne told the Chief Minister that Britain was committed to build a stronger, wider and deeper partnership with India and with the key states like Andhra Pradesh, a statement from Reddy's office said.
The UK minister said his country would send a high-level delegation to the Convention on Biodiversity, to be held in Hyderabad in October, the statement added.
Speaking about his tour of Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad during the week, Browne said, "I am delighted to be returning to India and visiting three of the great cities of the south...all locations where the UK will be investing more effort and attention in coming years. My visit symbolises the growing partnership between our two nations -- a partnership founded on mutual respect, common interest, and ambition for the future," the statement from the Chief Minister's office quoted Browne as saying.
British Deputy High Commissioner, Chennai, Mike Nithavrianakis was also a part of the delegation.
