For Hariprasad Aswa his long-cherished dream of earning nationwide recognition has finally come true. The collector of currency notes of various denominations with the same serial number and also same serial number railway platform tickets is acknowledged as a record holder in his category by the Limca Book of Records.
Aswa, a business man from Sirpur Khagaznagar in Adilabad district, has been collecting same serial number currency notes and railway platform tickets for the last 40 years. He is said to be the first person from Adilabad district to enter the Limca Book of Records.
Aswa has a collection of currency notes from Rs 2 to Rs 1,000. Beginning in 1964, he collected as many as 2,917 currency notes and his hobby has cost him Rs 3 lakh till now. Also, Aswa collects railway platform tickets during his visits to different places for business. He has a rich collection of platform tickets of 10 paise to 50 paise. Aswa exhibits his collection in a special room at his house. A number of interested people visit the place to have look at the rare items. He also exhibited the collection at several places in the district on various occasions. Meanwhile, Aswa is also making preparations to print a small Bhagawat Geeta with 2.2 cm length and 1.9 cm width in Hindi.
