Continuing Heat Wave Kills Nearly 370 in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana; 125 Deaths Reported in Last 24 Hours

Hyderabad: At least 145 people have died due to intense heat wave in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana since yesterday. The total number of death reported in the two states so far is at 368.

In Andhra Pradesh, 87 deaths were reported since yesterday, taking the toll to 182 from 95. 57 people died in Prakasam, the maximum in any district, the state disaster management officials have said, adding that the report from other districts are being compiled. The figure pertains to the period from May 18 till this evening.
Telangana reported 58 more deaths in the last 14 hours, taking the toll to 186 from 128 in 10 districts, a senior official of state disaster management department told the Press Trust of India. 55 people have died in Nalgonda district followed by 43 in Khammam district and 23 in Mahabubnagar district, the official said, adding that the figure is from April 15 till date.

In Hyderabad, two persons have died due to the extreme weather.

According to India Meteorological department, severe heatwave conditions are expected to continue till Monday in both these states.
