Hyderabad:
YSR Congress today said its chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would go on an indefinite fast of at Guntur from October 7 to mount pressure on Centre for granting special status to the state.
"The decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting and we will suggest alternative venue to the officials, if the present venue is not approved," YSRC leader Botsa Satyanarayana said in Hyderabad today.
Mr Reddy planned to hold the fast in Guntur from today, but the administration denied permission for it.
"The officials have said that the venue is not suitable for the indefinite fast and our party delegation will be meeting them showing alternative venues for approval as our interest is the development of the state which can be attained only through special status," Mr Satyanarayana said.
"We are determined to carry out the indefinite fast from October 7 and will go ahead with it at any cost and will cross all hurdles as our fight is the fight for the people and for their welfare," the leader said.
