Hyderabad:
A 51-year-old man has committed suicide in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh -- a suicide note found on him claims he took the step in demand for reservation for the Kapu community.
Cheekatla Venkata Ramana Murthy belonged to Kapu community but had no "political background", the police said. He was a television technician.
The police have filed a case and are investigating the matter. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Murthy's suicide comes a day after violence broke out in Tuni in East Godavari district following a public meeting called to demand reservation for the community in jobs and education under the Backward Caste category.
Thousands of protesters resorted to rail and road blockades, torched compartments of a train and a police station and targeted a number of vehicles. At least 15 policemen were injured in the violence.
