Mahashivratri celebrated with religious fervour in Andhra Pradesh

bangalore: Maha Sivaratri was celebrated with religious fervour across Andhra Pradesh with the devotees observing fast and offering prayers at the temples of Lord Shiva in the state.

Devotees thronged the temples since early morning all over the state.

Lakhs of devotees visited famous temples of the Lord at Srisailam, Srikalahasti, Draksharamam, Vemulawada, Amaravati in Guntur district, Bhimavaram in West Godavari district and other places.

Special rituals were performed on the Shivalingams and the devout observed fasting.

Thousands of pilgrims visited the famous Lord Raja Rajeshwara Temple at Vemulawada near Karimnagar on the auspicious occasion. Serpentine queues of devotees were witnessed since last night outside the temple.

The other Shiva temples in Kaleshwaram, Karimnagar and other parts of the district were also packed with pilgrims for whom special arrangements were made.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana Joint Action Committee Chairman M Kodandaram, TRS leaders Vinod Kumar, Etela Rajender, T Harish Tao and K Taraka Rama Rao were prominent among those who had a darshan' of Lord Raja Rajeshwara Swamy.
