Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh : A 30-year-old man was today arrested for allegedly throwing acid on his wife at Gummaladodi village of Gopavaram mandal in the East Godavari district.
K Subbalakshmi (25) and her husband K Srinivas (30) married eight years ago. Of late their relations had become strained, police said.
Subbalakhmi was staying at her mother's house for the past few months.
Srinivas visited her many times and asked her to come back, but she refused, police said.
Today, as she stepped out of her mother's house for going to a shop, a waiting Srinivas allegedly threw acid on her, police said.
Subbalakshmi, who received burn injuries on face, hands and stomach, was admitted in the Rajahmundry General Hospital.
Police immediately arrested Srinivas. Further probe is on.
