Hyderabad:
One person has died in a stampede at the Tirumala Temple in Andhra Pradesh. He had travelled with his family from Maharashtra to visit the famous temple.
The stampede reportedly began in the Vaikuntam complex of the temple at the "ladoo centre" where "prasad" is distributed to devotees, a couple of hours ago.
Entry into the temple is carefully regulated because of the huge daily rush of visitors. At this time of the year, there are between 50,000 to 1 lakh devotees everyday at the temple. An elaborate system of queues has won much praise in the past for the order it imposes upon the large crowds.
More details are awaited.
