Spicejet passengers travelling from Hyderabad to Tirupati on Sunday evening had a narrow escape as the aircraft overshot the runway and landed in a marshy and dark area beyond it.
The airlines said SG1047 Hyderabad -Tirupati went ''slightly off the runway while landing. All the crew and passengers are safe with no damage to the aircraft''.
The flight, coming from Hyderabad, skid off the runway due to technical snag about half-a-kilometre before coming to a halt after ploughing into the sandy soil, sources said.
The passengers, including former Andhra Pradesh Minister Ramnarayan Reddy, were disembarked from the flight and taken to the airport waiting hall, they added.
