Eluru, Andhra Pradesh: A four-year-old sustained severe burns on her private parts after being forced to sit on an iron playground slide - burning hot in the mid-day sun -- at a private school in Andhra Pradesh.
Her crime - urinating in her kindergarten classroom.
But the authorities of the school called Hope -- an English medium school in Elluru town -- allegedly refused to take action against the teacher concerned even when the parents complained.
The parents had met the principal, Dhanalakshmi.
Later, they approached the police who have filed cases against the teacher, the principal and the school ayah.
A protest was also held by the locals today, demanding action against the school authorities.
The state child rights body has taken note of the incident and issued notices to the district collector and Superintendent of Police, asking for details.
Even primary school education seems to have become a purely commercial activity, the rights body has pointed out.
"Teachers do not have the right training to deal with children and the issues related to them," rights body member Achut Rao told NDTV. "This teacher doesn't qualify to be with the children, if she doesn't understand a small issue like this."
