Hyderabad:
Wearing of helmets and seat belts would soon be made mandatory in Andhra Pradesh in a bid to prevent road accidents, state DGP Jasti Venkata Ramudu said in Hyderabad today.
The DGP interacted with senior police officers via video-conferencing and reviewed law and order situation, road mishaps and the crime in the state.
He also discussed about prevention of terrorism incidents and took stock of the progress of the construction work pertaining to police station buildings.
A decision was taken in the meeting to make wearing of helmets and seat belts compulsory to prevent road accidents, stated a release issued by the DGP office.
Mr Ramudu also reviewed the progress of work on setting up of reception centres in 65 police stations across the state.
Transport Commissioner N Balasubrahmanyam, Additional Director General (Law and Order) RP Thakur, were among those senior officers present in the meeting.
