JC Prabhakar Reddy represents Tadipatri constituency Andhra Pradesh' Anantapur district.
Anantapur:
A legislator from the ruling Telugu Desam party in Andhra Pradesh, JC Prabhakar Reddy said he will start "accepting bribes" and "use the money for welfare activities" in his constituency, as the state treasury was "cash-strapped".
Mr Reddy, who represents Tadipatri constituency in Anantapur district, said: "I will take bribes from contractors. But I will take them by demand drafts. I will display the names of those who have given me the money. I will take the money for my constituency."
Stressing that his motive was aimed at the progress of his constituency, the legislator said, "There is no money in Andhra Pradesh. How will we complete in development works? Why can't we do this?"
He claimed that several contractors who were executing government works in his constituency had offered him money but he never accepted it.
Mr Reddy's brother JC Diwakar Reddy is a senior TDP leader and a Lok Sabha member.
