Youth is focus of Andhra Pradesh Government, say Governor

Hyderabad: Observing that youth is the focus of the State Government, Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan today said massive efforts are being made to generate employment for the young, in addition to the number of welfare schemes being implemented currently.

"The mission (Rajiv Education and Employment Mission) is mandated to provide placements to 15 lakh youth by 2014, as an inclusive programme to reach the needy sections particularly Scheduled Cast, Schdeled Tribes, Backward Cast, youth and women," he said in his Republic Day speech here.

The Industrial Investment Policy-2010-15 envisages creation of five lakh jobs per year with an overall investment of Rs 15,000 crore annually for achieving a 17 per cent growth in manufacturing sector, the Governor said.

During the recently-held Partnership Summit 2012, the state issued sanction letters and signed MoUs valued at Rs6.48 crore with employment potential of 6.78 lakh jobs, Narasimhan said.

He highlighted the welfare and development programmes like interest-free loans and 'Rythu Sadassulu' (farmers' meets) for the benefit of farming community, one kilo rice for one rupee, Indira Jala Prabha' irrigation programme for Scheduled Cast/Scheduled Tribes  farmers and 'Jalayagnam' (irrigation mission) social security pensions, strengthening of health care sector, students tuition fees reimbursement.

Earlier, the Governor unfurled the national flag and reviewed the ceremonial parade held at the Parade Grounds.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, his deputy C Damodar Rajanarasimha, Assembly Speaker N Manohar, several ministers and other dignitaries attended the event.

The Republic Day was celebrated at the offices of Congress, Telugu Desam, Bhatiya Janata Party and other parties.
