Ralegan Siddhi:
Anna Hazare, Gandhian activist and one-time mentor of
Arvind Kejriwal, said today, "We have been together for many years. I am confident he will do good work."
Mr Kejriwal was sworn-in as Delhi's chief minister at the Ramlila Maidan, where he became a nationally-recognized figure in 2011 when he flanked Anna, who fasted for 16 days to demand the new anti-corruption law that has just been cleared by Parliament and births a national ombudsman or Lokpal.
Anna and Mr Kejriwal split last year over the latter's decision to launch a political party.
The 76-year-old activist spoke this morning at his village in Maharashtra. He has also sent an RSVP to Mr Kejriwal, saying he will not attend the oath-taking ceremony in Delhi.
In a short message Anna said, "Today you are being sworn in as chief minister. Due to ill health, I will not be coming to the ceremony. My congratulations. Your team members are also being sworn in today. My congratulations to them as well."
Mr Kejriwal said this morning that Anna's good wishes were very important to him.
