Sanaullah Ranjay, the Pakistani prisoner who was hit on the head with a hammer by another inmate in a Jammu jail, died in a Chandigarh hospital today. India has assured Pakistan that it would make all necessary arrangements to facilitate his body be sent back home.
Here are five facts about Sanaullah Ranjay
Sanaullah was a resident of Daluwali in Sialkot district of Pakistan.
He was 54 years old and was serving a life-term in the Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu for the last 17 years.
Sanaullah was accused of detonating bombs at electric towers and government buildings in Jammu and Kashmir in 1990.
He was arrested in 1996 and charged with involvement in a bomb blast at Katra near the Hindu shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in 1994 which left 10 people dead.
He crossed over to India illegally with the help of another accused Kehar, who died during trial.
