In a possible case of drunk driving, two people were crushed under the wheels of a Honda City in Delhi on Saturday night. The accident happened when the car rammed into an auto in the city's Cantonment area.

Two people died on the spot while two others are being treated at Safdarjung Hospital.

Police claim an Army colonel's wife was behind the wheels and she was in a drunken state. They have registered a case for drunken driving and rash driving and culpable homicide.

The deceased have been identified as Raj Kumar (50), the auto driver, and Ved Prakash (23). Nivedita Singh, wife of a serving Colonel, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place.

"She was speeding and lost control of her car before ramming into the auto head-on which had four occupants, including the driver," the official said.

Kumar, a resident of Uttam Nagar, and a passenger Prakash, residing in Palam Colony, died on the spot while two others Geet Singh (28) of Khanpur and Megh Singh (27) of Alwar suffered injuries.

The colonel's wife is being questioned by police. The incident occurred around 11.30 last night.
