Mumbai: Attempt to murder case against minister's son
Mumbai: Nitesh Rane, son of Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane was charged with attempt to murder on Thursday. He allegedly opened fire on the state president of his organisation, Chintu Shaikh. 

Shaikh alleged that Rane fired at him when he went to meet him at his office in suburban Mumbai.

However, preliminary medical reports suggest that the he was not shot by Rane's son. As per the medical report, the injury sutained by Chintu Shaikh are not caused by a bullet.

Shaikh is in hospital with minor injuries even as the Nitesh gave his statement to the police on Thursday night stating he had no licence and did not own any fire arms.

The police are waiting for the forensic reports of the victim to ascertain if the injuries on him are that of a bullet or a sharp object.

Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan said, "I was not in Mumbai last night. I don't have detailed information on this matter. I have just come back. The police will investigate the matter and take action. Till I don't get full information, I wouldn't want to comment on the matter."
