2G case: Kanimozhi moves Delhi High Court for bail
New Delhi: DMK Rajya Sabha MP and party chief M Karunanidhi's daughter, Kanimozhi, has moved the Delhi High Court for bail in the 2G case. In her bail plea, Kanimozhi has said that the trial court has no power to send her to jail after issuing summons to her.

Kanimozhi has been named as co-accused along with former Telecom Minister A Raja and has been chargesheeted by the CBI for allegedly accepting Rs 214 crore as bribe that was a part of India's largest swindle, the 2G scam. Her party MP and Dalit leader A Raja is already in Tihar since February, for allegedly planning and executing the 2G scam when he was Telecom Minister in 2008.

Kanimozhi was sent to Tihar after her bail plea was rejected by a special Delhi court on Friday.

In her petition, Kanimozhi has said that no bribe has been received by Kalaignar TV; that Rs 200 crore from Cineyug was only a loan which was repaid.

Among the maze of companies charged in the 2G scam is Cineyug Films and its MD Karim Morani who has been charged by the CBI of abetment to bribery.

The petition also says that all transactions are transparent through bank and denies allegation of strong association with former Telecom Minister A Raja.

The petition has also asked for bail to Kanimozhi on humanitarian grounds to take care of her son since husband is employed abroad.

She also says that there is no chance of tampering with evidence because all the documents are already in CBI possession.

Kalaignar TV MD Sharath Kumar, who has been accused of conspiring with Mr Raja and is in Tihar Jaisl, also moved the Delhi High Court for bail on the same grounds as quoted by Kanimozhi.
