New Delhi:
It's a familiar routine for the past 10 days now - chaos in both the Houses of Parliament followed by adjournments.
Today another week ended without work in Parliament and there's no end in sight for the deadlock. The government has made it clear that they are not willing to budge on the demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to look into the alleged irregularities in the allotment of 2G spectrum.
The Opposition insists on a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam.
With no meeting ground between the Opposition and the Government, there's now talk of the winter session of Parliament being cut short, and Parliament being adjourned sine die.
"If the Parliament adjourns sine die, the government will be responsible, " Dr V Maitreyan, an AIADMK Leader said.
The Government denies these reports, but it did admit that the Opposition was making life difficult.
"We are here to perform business in the interest of the nation. The Opposition should realise their duties. If they are serious about issues, they should discuss it in the Parliament," the Law Minister, Veerappa Moily, said.
Under attack, the Government has not only changed its legal strategy, but also its political tactic. Kapil Sibal, who has been given the additional charge of the Telecom Ministry, stepped up the ante.
"When Tehelka broke out, did the NDA Defence Minister resign? Was there a Joint Parliamentary probe? Was there a Joint Parliamentary probe in Karnataka?" Sibal said.
