Afzal Guru executed: what Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said
A few hours after Afzal Guru was executed this morning, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in a statement in Srinagar, asked people of the state to remain calm and not carry out protests. He said some security measures had been take in parts of the state, policemen had been asked to show restraint and that the Army had not been deployed. Mr Abdullah did not take questions.

  • I got a call from Home Minister at 8pm yesterday.
  • After the completion of all legal processes, the execution was planned for this morning
  • The state has been making it clear of the ramifications of this execution.
  •  There was no case in Kashmir against AFzal Guru. The state govt didn not have to sign the execution papers.
  • We are managing the situation with the J&k police and CRPF.
  • The curfew has been imposed in many parts of the state.
  • Hope people won't allow this situation to go out of hand.
