"I am Amit Shah. I am a small worker of the BJP and I have come to uproot the Trinamool Congress from West Bengal:" BJP president Amit Shah's second rally in West Bengal was virtually a battle cry.
The state goes to polls in 2016. But what boosted BJP's morale was the Calcutta High Court's verdict in its favour - allowing the party to hold the rally at the landmark Victoria House in face of the objections from the state government.
Mr Shah launched a frontal attack on the chief minister over the Saradha scam and the Burdwan blast. He said the money from the Saradha chit fund was used to fund the Burdwan blast.
"The money in Saradha - is it black or white? Saradha chit fund money used in Burdwan case," said Mr Shah. "Mamataji you tell me who bought your painting? You tell me whether TMC leaders have benefited from Saradha scam or not."
The Trinamool Congress had taken the government head on in Parliament last week over the black money issue. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, who had pulled up the state government after the Burdwan blasts - which unearthed the presence of a Bangladeshi terror hub in Bengal - also came in for criticism.
"Mamata is trying to shield those accused in Burdwan blast. Whose house was it where the blast took place," Mr Shah said - reference to reports that the ground floor of the building in Burdwan where the blasts took place housed an office of the Trinamool Congress.
The Trinamool, he said, was blocking the NIA probe in the name of federalism. "Bangladeshi immigrants have not made you Chief Minister. I want to appeal to Mamata di, you can go ahead with your vote-bank politics but stop giving protection to Bangladeshi immigrants at the cost of the country's security," he added.
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said the illegal immigration from Bangladesh will be stopped. At a rally in Assam, he said, "I will make such an arrangement that all the roads that are helping Bangladeshis enter and destroy Assam are closed".
