Seemanto Roy, Subrata's son and Sahara's Executive Director, today addressed a press conference on the arrest.
Here are the highlights: - Sahara is being projected in bad light
- Misconceptions are being created by those with vested interest
- We have 12 lakh employees, and it is our duty to place facts before them
- Cannot talk about many things has the Sahara-Sebi case is sub-judice.
- On February 24, Subrata Roy was informed that the condition of his mother had deteriorated and the situation was critical
- He went back in a private charter. He is the eldest son and is very attached to his mother
- The hospital in Lucknow, which is run by Sahara India pariwar, has said her condition is critical
- His mother's medical condition continued to remain fragile and he wanted to stay back to be with his mother
- He wrote a personal letter to Ram Jethmalani stating his inability to attend court proceeding and asked him to read it out in the court
- Ram Jethmalani read it out in the court but a non bailable warrant was issued against him
- As a law abiding citizen, he has willfully decided to submit himself to Lucknow police as per the court orders
- He has requested the court to recall the non bailable warrant against him as he has surrendered and assured he will be present for all court hearings
- As we speak Sahara Shri is in police custody and is fully co-operating
- Sahara is a responsible organisation with high standard of business ethics
- He (Subrata Roy) is not only a doting father to me but a patriotic son of the soil
- Whenever India needed son to stand up, he was there
- It pains me to see his reputation and image being maligned in this manner
