Pune:
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar today congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating a dialogue for the promotion of business during his ongoing tour of the United States.
Referring to the Prime Minister's interactions with NRIs in New York, Mr Pawar said, "During their dialogue with the US, Congress leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi or Manmohan Singh stressed on meeting India's requirements but did not think in terms of marketing India."
Noting that New York has a large Indian population, particularly of Gujaratis, Mr Pawar told a Marathi television news channel in Pune that it was a "very intelligent and practical decision" on Mr Modi's part to address this section during his visit to the US.
