Union minister Shashi Tharoor, whose wife, Sunanda, was found dead in a five-star hotel room on Friday, has called for a swift inquiry so the truth "can come out as soon as possible".
In a letter sent to Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Mr Tharoor pledged his "full and unstinting cooperation" with investigations into his wife's death.
"I have finally had a chance to catch up with the media reports and am horrified to read the reckless speculation rampant there," he said in the letter. (

Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor died an "unnatural, sudden death", said doctors who performed an autopsy on Saturday, adding that more tests were needed to determine the exact cause of her death.
Mrs Tharoor's body had "some physical injuries" but it was unclear whether they were related to her death, said Sudhir Gupta, one of three doctors who performed the autopsy.
The final autopsy report was expected to be submitted to authorities on Monday.

"He is in a state of shock. He is anxious and keen to know the truth... what happened that day, no one can say," Mr Tharoor's private secretary Abhinav Kumar told news agency AFP.
The death of Mrs Tharoor, 52, was a tragic twist in a tale of apparent marital strife that has played out in full view of the public in newspapers and on social media.
Earlier this week, Mrs Tharoor told the media she had stumbled upon evidence of an affair between her husband and a Pakistani journalist, to whom she sent a series of angry tweets.
But on Thursday, the Tharoors issued a statement saying they were "happily married."
