Why PM could not control prices, asks Gadkari

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that prices were rising due to wrong economic policies of the UPA government at the Centre. He asked the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, to answer why Prime Minister could not control the prices.

Addressing a press conference in the Capital, the BJP president said that the price rise regulation does not exist in the country.

"Inflation rate is 13 per cent.  Prices are rising. Various decisions taken by the Centre on the issue are wrong and hence inflation will rise even further," he said.

He flayed the Union government's decision to increase prices of petrol and diesel.

"I am surprised that such a noted economist like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sees the poor condition of oil companies not of the poor people," he added.

Attacking the UPA government at the Centre, the BJP president said that for two years they have been making promises. The number of poor people was increasing. Farmers were also not getting any benefits either. He asked the government of address these issues.

The BJP president appealed to the people to join the all India bandh over price rise on July 5.
