New Delhi:
Sachin Tendulkar, acknowledged as one of the world's greatest cricketers, was among NDTV's 25 global living legends honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee this evening.
Sachin, 40, retired last month, breaking the hearts of millions of his fans in India and the world.
"My sport has taught me that when you face a defeat, you rise and take on another challenge," he said after accepting the honour to huge applause from the gathering at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
He advised for youngsters to "engage in outdoor activities. "Take care of your health, because fitness will allow you to focus in anything you do," he said.
