With four days to go for polling in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spared neither the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party his scathing criticism at a rally today, but the meat of his attack was reserved for Arvind Kejriwal, seen by the BJP as the man to beat in these elections.
"Those who posed as Mr Clean are exposed as dishonest today," Mr Modi said referring to what the BJP has dubbed ""hawala at midnight," adding "Rajiv Gandhi tried to show that he was Mr.Clean but there was corruption...Our country can forgive mistakes, but not betrayal."
Mr Kejriwal, who is running for Delhi Chief Minister has said his party should not be held responsible for failing to verify the financial DNA of four companies whose two crores in total donations landed with AAP one midnight in April last year. The collective records of the companies suggest dubious accounts and fake addresses.
The Prime Minister mocked Mr Kejriwal's defence. "The people who would once go around with Swiss bank account numbers in their pockets don't know whose money is coming into their accounts?" he asked, recalling an aggressive campaign by Mr Kejriwal's against black money.
"Kaala dhan Kaali raat Kaala karnama (black money, black night, black deeds) is something we've seen for the first time," the PM said.
The Congress, PM Modi said, had wasted 15 years of Delhi, and the AAP had wasted one. "It is the BJP's responsibility to set right all that has gone wrong in the past 16 years," he said.
Elections will be held in Delhi on Saturday. At least three major opinion polls have given Mr Kejriwal's party an edge over the BJP, which weeks ago was seen as a favourite to win Delhi.
A worried BJP has pulled out all stops and all its top talent has been deployed in Delhi in the last week. The PM, his party's star campaigner, has already addressed three rallies in the capital in four days and will address one more before campaigning ends.
