Thrissur:
UNESCO, in collaboration with Centre's cultural department, has granted financial assistance
to the Vedic Research Centre here for promotion of Vedic studies.
Vice President of the "Vadakke Brahmaswam Madham", the Vedic Research Centre, Vadakkoobatt Narayanan told reporters here that Rs 16 lakh had ben granted for strengthening vedic study.
Besides, about Rs 8 lakh had also been granted at the rate of Rs 3000 per month towards salaries of 22 teachers.
He said the Madham, believed to have been founded by Adi Sankara, had the status of a university even at the latter half of the seventh century.
