Puducherry:
Secretary of AIADMK's Puducherry unit youth wing B R Elumalai was injured after he was allegedly assaulted by a 15-member unidentified gang in a village in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, the party said today.
Elumalai, who suffered bleeding injuries on his face, had been admitted to the government hospital here and his condition was stated to be out of danger, AIADMK Puducherry unit Secretary A Anbalagan, MLA, said.
The AIADMK functionary along with his friends was returning in his car from a temple in Irumbai village when the gang intercepted the vehicle and allegedly assaulted him and some of his friends.
The car was also smashed by the gang. It was alleged that the gang robbed Elumalai and some of his friends of cash and gold rings they were wearing.
A complaint has been lodged with Auroville police.
