Coimbatore: Of the targeted 45,717 students for distributing laptops in Coimbatore under the Tamil Nadu Government scheme, 3,308 students were given the laptops so far, agriculture minister, Mr S Damodaran said today.
Speaking after distributing laptops worth Rs 2.92 crore to 1,987 students at a function in Coimbatore, Mr Damodaran said that all the students in the State would be provided with laptops in another five years.
Chief Minister, Ms Jayalalithaa was giving more priority for education and trying to provide all basic needs to the student community and considering this, Rs 14,583 crore was allocated for the sector in the recent budget, higher than any other sectors, he said.
