Two killed in explosion in textile factory

Erode: Two workers, including a woman, of a textile processing and calendering factory were killed and four other workers sustained serious injuries in an explosion
at the factory here.

Calendering and processing were being undertaken using steam at the factory located in Sathyamangalam main road here near Veerappanchatram yesterday when the steam boiler suddenly exploded, police said.

Boiler man Moorthy, 40, who was standing near the boiler was killed on the spot while folding worker Vani, 38, also died after being hit by the lid of the boiler.

Four other workers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital.
