Erode: A local court has sentenced two persons to life in a case relating to the murder of a watchman of a temple and stealing its jewels in 2004.
The prosecution case was that the two had tried to enter the Kaithamalai Vetri Velayuthasamy temple at Uthukuli and stabbed the watchman to death when he tried to prevent them.
They then decamped with temple jewellery worth rs 1.5 lakh.
Erode Fast Track Court Judge P Rajamanickkam sentenced the two to life yesterday for murder and theft.
