Ahead of Rajasthan assembly polls, former MP caught with Rs 13 lakh cash

Jaipur: In a joint operation in Jaipur ahead of the December 1 assembly polls in Rajasthan, Income Tax, Collectorate and Election Commission officials today found over Rs 13 lakh in cash in possession of a former MP.

Responding to an anonymous tip-off received by election officials, the joint team surveyed the hotel where Meetha Lal Jain, a former Member of Parliament from the Pali constituency, was putting up.

"Jain is being asked to disclose the source of the cash," a senior IT official said.

"We are yet to seize the cash and are asking him to supply valid statements pertaining to it," the official added.

Jain, who is reportedly a leader of a local political outfit, Bharitya Yuva Jan Shakti Party, was unavailable for comment.
