Akhilesh Yadav's biggest challenge is tackling 'goonda-giri'

Lucknow: Adding to the violent incidents which have been reported throughout the state after Samajwadi Party won the elections, a police constable was allegedly run over by a car that belonged to an SP MLA in Moradabad yesterday.   

MLA Ashutosh Maurya's car hit a police constable who was on a bike. The MLA's wife along two or three more people was present in the car.  

After the incident, MLA's family members reportedly abused few more police constables on the spot.

The car was taken to a police station with the family members of the MLA; however, Mr Maurya took them back from the police station.
The injured police constable was admitted to Moradabad's district hospital where his condition is reported to be critical.

So far, no case has been registered against the MLA.

This incident follows a string of violent incidents why have marked SP's coming back to power. On Tuesday, the day the SP swept to power in the state, a 13-year-old boy was killed during celebratory gunfire. A group of reporter were also held hostage by SP workers in SP on the same day.

There were also reports that SP workers had set on fire a hutment at Sitapur, where supporters of an Independent candidate lived.

Akhilesh Yadav has promised to deal with the mischief makers with an iron hand, stressing that there will be no room for trouble makers in the party.

Akhilesh added: "Many a time in the past, both myself and Netaji (Mulayam) have made this very clear... we are committed to an improved law and order in the state."
