Chandigarh: The Haryana government has imposed a ban on the sale of liquor and other intoxicants along the Rajasthan border for 48 hours in view of Assembly polls there.
The ban, imposed within a distance of three kilometres from the Rajasthan border, would start from 5 pm on November 29 and go on till 5 pm on December 1, an official spokesman said today.
Elections to the Rajasthan Assembly would be held on December 1 and votes would be counted on December 8.
The spokesman said the sale of liquor or other intoxicant would be banned in the area for 48 hours starting 5 pm on November 29 while December 8 would be a dry day.
Hotels, pubs and taverns, where liquor is served, would remain closed during the period, he added.
