New Delhi: The BJP on Friday declared its second list of candidates for the remaining seats of Uttarakhand and announced that its ally Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) will contest two seats on the BJP symbol.
After declaring its first list of 48 candidates for the 70-member Assembly last week, the BJP today announced the names of 20 more candidates, after the party's central election committee met at the residence of party president Nitin Gadkari.
The list includes sitting MLAs Gopal Singh Rawat (Gangotri), Asha Nautiyal (Kedarnath), Vijay Singh Panwar (Pratapnagar), Kuldeep Singh (Vikasnagar), Prem Agarwal (Rishikesh), Bansidhar Bhagat (Kaldungi), Diwan Singh Bisth (Ramnagar) and Arvind Pandey (Gadarpur).
BJP Uttarakhand unit general secretary Dhan Singh Rawat will contest Srinagar seat.
The BJP list includes three women, three Scheduled Caste and one Scheduled Tribe candidate.
The UKD candidates are Diwakar Bhatt (Devaprayag) and Om Gopal Rawat (Narendranagar). Both are sitting MLAs and will contest on BJP symbol.
Other candidates include Jagbir Singh Bhandari from Yamunotri, Prem Ballabh Bhatt from Badrinath, Kamla Chouhan from Chakrata (ST), Prakash Suman Dhyani from Dharampur, Suresh Rathore from Bhagwanpur (SC), Shyamvir Saini from Pirankaliyar, Ghananda from Pauri (SC), Tirath Singh Rawat from Chaubattakhal, Dan Singh Bhandari from Bhimtal, Renu Adhikari from Haldwani and Rajesh Kumar from Bajpur (SC).
