The Assembly election results in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir indicated that the BJP had fared better as compared to the previous elections in the two states. BJP President Amit Shah spoke to the media on result day. Here are the highlights of his speech:
- I thank the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand for the success that the BJP has had.
- I assure the people of Jharkhand that we will keep our promise of development.
- 2014 has been a year of unprecedented electoral successes for the BJP.
- Want to congratulate PM Modi. His government's work is 6 months had a role to play in this electoral victory.
- Prime Minister Modi led the BJP's campaign in both states and we achieved this success.
- After the formation of Jharkhand, this is the first time people there have elected a majority government and the BJP is all set to form the government there.
- In Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP has improved its tally and become a relevant political force.
- Congress has been relegated to the 3rd or 4th position in both the states.
- Our vote share in Jharkhand has gone up from 24 per cent to 31.3 per cent.
- Percentage wise in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP has got the largest vote share of over 23%.
- Thank the BJP workers in both the states. Without them, this electoral victory would not have been possible.
- People have liked the agenda of development. As far as Mission 44 is concerned, wait for a while and you'll see something good happen.
- I don't know about you, but these results are according to my expectations.
- All options open in Jammu & Kashmir; we will decide on the basis of initiative taken by other parties.
