Congress declares 6 more candidates for Assam polls

New Delhi: Congress today finalised six more candidates for Assam assembly elections.

With this, the candidates for 124 constituencies in the 126-member state assembly has been finalised.

The party had yesterday released the list of 118 candidates, including Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi from Titabar.

Other prominent among them were Debabrata Saikia, son of former Assam chief minister Hiteswar Saikia, and Sushmita Deb, daughter of former union minister Santosh Mohan Deb.
     
22 new faces found place in Congress' first list of candidates. So far, 21 women have already been given tickets.

The seats for which candidates have been declared today are Tezpur, Gohpur, Haflong, Gopalpara West, Jamunamukh and Tingkhong where Rajen Borthakur, Monika Bora, Gobind Ch. Langthasa, Rejaul Karim Chaudhury and Atuwa Munda would contest.
