Congress hoping to sweep Puducherry

New Delhi: Despite battling a string of corruption scandals, the Congress is hopeful of doing well in the upcoming assembly elections in Puducherry.

"Political situation in each state is different. However, on the balance, we will come out as winners," Congress spokesman Manish Tewari said on Wednesday.

Puducherry is the only Union Territory listed to go to the polls in April-May, and is governed by the Congress.

There will be a single phase voting on April 13 for the 30-member Puducherry assembly. The counting of votes will take place on May13.
