Mumbai:
There are just nine days to go for the filing of nominations for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, but the contours of the Congress and NCP alliance in Maharashtra are still not in place.
The Congress has not opened formal talks with the NCP on seat sharing. There are reports that both sides want a larger share of the pie.
After its success in the Lok Sabha elections, in which it won 18 seats in the state, the Congress wants an increased share of seats to contest.
There are also reports that some leaders within the Congress feel that it may well be able to replicate the Uttar Pradesh victory in Maharashtra by going it alone.
Speaking to Prannoy Roy on India Decides at 9, the NCP's Praful Patel admitted that if the parties decided to fight separately, it could end up benefitting the BJP.
