Congress, NCP reach seat sharing agreement in Maharashtra

New Delhi: The Congress party and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will jointly fight elections in Maharashtra. An agreement on seat sharing was reached on late Tuesday according to which Congress will contest on 174 seats and NCP 114.

The Congress-NCP alliance has planned a joint campaign by Sonia Gandhi and Sharad Pawar and a common manifesto. Sources say the two party chiefs will address rallies together at some of the big constituencies.

On Monday, the NCP conceded the Kalina seat in Mumbai to the Congress. It will get the Anushakti Nagar seat in return.

Both parties had claimed the Kalina seat. The last date for filing nominations is Friday, September 25.
