Congress would ally with smaller partiesfor next year's assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, state party chief RitaBahuguna Joshi has said, ruling out any pre-poll tie up with the BSP, BJP andSP.
"Congress would ally with smallerparties in the state for next year's polls who support its policy," Joshitold reporters.
She said the BSP-led state governmenthad proved to be a "failure on all fronts" and people, especiallywomen, remain insecure in the state.
Referring to the recent murder of theteenaged girl in Lakhimpur, Joshi said it was "another example of how lawand order has collapsed in the state".
The Congress leader said the partywould announce its new policy for the upcoming polls in the 'BhattaparsoliKisan Maha Panchayat', to be held later this month.
"The party will also finalise thecandidates who would contest for next year's Assembly elections by this monthend," she added
