Chennai:
DMK sources have told NDTV that they have finalised a seat-sharing deal with the Congress. Under the new deal that has been thrashed out, the Congress will get 60 seats.
In the last state election, the Congress was given 48 seats.
This deal comes after high-level negotiations through Thursday. A third round of talks held late on Wednesday night had failed and Ghulam Nabi Azad - the Congressman in charge of Tamil Nadu - skipped a scheduled meeting on Thursday morning with DMK chief Karunanidhi.
Currently the Congress supports the DMK government in the state. If the alliance wins the election, the Congress wants to be included in the government.
The past few weeks have been tough on their relationship with the CBI's investigation into the 2G scam extending to some of the DMK's senior-most leaders including Mr Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi.
A Raja, the DMK leader who was Telecom Minister till November, is in jail.
Tamil Nadu will vote on April 13, and the results will be declared on May 13 for the state's 234 seats.
