New Delhi: Election Commission (EC) has taken serious note of alleged leakage of information to the media leading to a misrepresentation of facts.
Certain EC officials are now under the scanner for giving out information to reporters without authorisation.
In one case, the information on the EC decision to serve a notice to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was leaked even before the panel could take a final call on the matter.
In other cases, leaks led to incorrect reporting, EC sources said in Delhi.
The entire staff at Nirvachan Sadan has now been warned against talking to the media without prior authorisation of the commission, the sources added.
