Jammu:
The Election Commission today ordered re-polling in a polling station in Mendhar Assembly segment in Poonch district on December 7.
"The Election Commission of India today ordered re-poll at polling station no. 34-Chungan-B of 86-Assembly constituency Mendhar," an Election Commission spokesman said on Friday night.
The Commission, under Section 68 (1) (b) of the Jammu & Kashmir Representation of the Peoples Act, 1957, declared the poll taken on December 2 at the said polling station as void.
"Some people had entered the polling booth and captured the EVM. After clearing them from booth, we tried to re-start the polling process, but it became a law and order problem," Returning Officer of Mendhar Assembly constituency Rakesk Kumar said.
The Commission has fixed December 7 for conducting fresh poll at the polling station between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
