Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi reaches out to the public at his rally in Churu
New Delhi:
You have a seat at the drafting table for the manifestos that the Congress and the BJP will offer for the national election. Or so they claim.
Both parties say crowd-sourced inputs will be a pivotal force in their official agendas.
In Rajasthan today, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi said, "Usually, the party manifesto is made by four or five people behind closed doors. I want the people to contribute...the youth, the women...our political system needs to be much more inclusive."
At his rally in Alwar in Rajasthan, which votes on December 1, a 13-year-old girl who wants to study medicine, was selected to join Mr Gandhi on stage and launch the Congress's website, incmanifesto.in, where people can post their comments or suggestions for the party's manifesto.
The main opposition party, the BJP, has also launched a similar site, bjpelectionmanifesto.com.
Earlier this week, the party's candidate for prime minister, Narendra Modi also tweeted, "Your voice, your manifesto! Urging you to share ideas for 2014 BJP manifesto. Let us work together for a better India!"
