Ahmedabad:
A complaint was filed on Sunday against BJP leader and former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by taking out a procession after the campaign deadline had lapsed.
Mr Shah, an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, is contesting from Naranpura constituency in Ahmedabad.
Nikunj Ballar, advocate in the legal cell of the Congress's Gujarat unit, filed the complaint with Election Commission officials in Gandhinagar.
"Amit Shah led a group of supporters in Sola housing area with drums and other fanfare without prior
permission, which is a clear violation of the model code," Mr Bhallar said. "He put up election banners in some colonies without the permission of residents."
Congress candidate from Naranpura, Jitendra Patel, alleged that Mr Shah had threatened voters.
